This 19" offering from Relisys looks very square and business like in its dull grey plastic casing, but there are a few surprises below the corporate exterior. This screen boasts an extremely impressive 700:1 contrast ratio, and the difference can be seen immediately with a much purer black replication and overall image quality.

The OSD takes a few minutes to get to grips with, but there is a full range of options there, including full control over the colours. The 25ms response time is quite a let down, and whilst the screen is readable from any angle, you must sit right in front of it to get the full effect of the high contrast ratio. The 1280x1024 native resolution is typical of this size monitor, and is much more comfortable to use than a 17" screen at the same resolution. Scaling to 800x600 and 1024x768 is quite good, but the high response time rules this out as a gaming monitor.

The default monitor settings are a little fuzzy, and you may have to adjust the phase and clock settings yourself to get it just right. When it is set up correctly however, this monitor is great for graphics work, and comes highly recommended for artists and designers.
