Sunbeam Tech have been around since the turn of 2000. They specialize in computer cooling, modding accessories and cases. The Samurai is one of their latest additions to a rather limited range of computer cases.

The case conforms to the ATX standard, and is made of steel. It weighs in at 7.8kg and measures 200mm(W) x 430mm(H) x 451mm(D). There are a total of five 5.25" drive bays, 1 floppy bay and 4 hard drive bays. No PSU is included, although an 80mm LED fan is.

This case is available in three different colours - red, black and silver. The somewhat futuristic looking plastic front acts as a door, hiding the drive bays. The big blue "eye" in the front is actually the power button, and there is a small reset button as well.
At the side of the case (right by the front) there are 2 USB ports and 2 audio jacks (microphone and speakers). The audio cable runs inside the case and is intended to go out the back, connecting to the sound card externally. This is not the most ideal solution, especially since almost all motherboards now have special front panel audio headers.

Build Quality

The build quality of the Samurai is generally fairly good. The case itself is sturdy for its weight. Sunbeam has rolled over most edges in this case, yet caution is advised when installing the PSU, as the edges here are a bit sharp. You should also note that the PCI plates are of the push-out type, which can be sharp.

The biggest drawback in build quality is that the front door and bezel are both made out of plastic, and seem a bit wobbly. The door hinges are thin and appear to be quite fragile, so you should be careful when opening the door. That said, the rest of the case is very well built, with only these drawbacks worth mentioning.

Aesthetics

The look of the Samurai case is striking, and what you think of it is down to personal taste. The front door and bezel are intended to resemble the mask of a Japanese Samurai, hence the name.

The rest of the case has a more standard look to it, but the side panel is pre-fitted with a large window, fan grille and an 80mm LED fan. This case offers potential for the modders amongst us, and the front panel is likely to attract attention at any LAN party you might bring the Samurai to.
