Final Thoughts

Although we didn't go particularly in depth with testing, due to the lack of comparison motherboards, we feel the results are indicative that performance will be more than satisfactory. Also interesting, was how little difference we saw between single and dual channel memory. This makes Socket 754 seem even more of a bargain than we previously thought.

Due to this board being an engineering sample, there were no overclocking options at all. At this point we can't be certain if there is a working PCI-E lock, and until we have tested a final board ourselves, we wouldn't want to comment.

The final question is one of availability, pricing and yield. So far, early nForce 4 silicon has proven to be a little unstable, not being able to handle the 1GHz HyperTransport, so fully working boards should be a few weeks off yet. VIA KT890 has yet to even reach it's paper launch date, making production boards even further on the Horizon.

If this board is anything to go by, things are looking good for ATi. Of course only time will tell.
