Conclusion

This drive offers you everything you need to start writing DVD's, including software. But, the real stinger is the price. Quoting Insight, it is £182.11 (inc vat), compared to the internal version which is only £86.94. This is over double the price just for external connectivity. This seems completley unreasonable, no matter how nice it looks.

This drive is big and requires external power, so it loses almost all of it's usefulness as a mobile device. Therefore, there is very little need for it to be external. If using a USB switch box, you could share it between two machines in an office. But for the same price you could buy a drive each.

Price aside, this is a lovely drive, but I find it very difficult to recommend it. If you are after an external drive, it may be cheaper to buy an internal drive and an enclosure separatley.
