While scrapping some fans out of dead power supplies a while back, I noticed
some of them were plugged into a thermal speed control board. Having a deep
affection for all things cheap (i.e free) I pried out the bits in question hoping
to turn them into "ghetto" fan controllers at a later date. Well,
its A LOT later - but better than never so...
Here's the board after I hacked it out of the PSU.
The short black/yellow wires are the 12v in, and the black/red is the
power to the fan, the green bulb is the thermistor. (man, I gotta clean
that nasty keyboard!)
First thing we gotta do is make sure she's gonna work.
We wouldn't want to mod out a dead part now would we?
.... It's alive!!
It's going to need some longer output leads so I am
going to do it right and change em at the board. Out with the old...
