Beantech Igloo 4 OB

The Igloo 4 OB is the most aesthetically pleasing of the three Beantech cases we have on test. The flush mounted speaker grille type front intake is unobtrusive and allows for plenty of airflow. The all black colour scheme and straight edges make for a no nonsense industrial appearance. Since the case is simple and cheap, it is an ideal candidate for modification. The Igloo 4 uses the same basic chassis as the other cases in the range and shares many of the same features.

Twin 80mm fans at the front and a single 80mm exhaust allow for acceptable airflow. The Evercool fans included with the case are reasonably good budget fans, providing good airflow at 12 volts and very low noise at 5 volts. Beantech have included a little fan control system for the front two fans. These are controlled by a tiny knob hidden behind the front panel. The case also includes tool less CD-ROM fitting, and anti vibration mountings for the hard drives. This model includes a side panel window. It is a square Perspex affair, bolted to the outside of the side panel. The panel has an ever so slight blue tint that makes the surface seem clear, and the beveled edge blue.
This case is an unremarkable but competent Lian Li clone and at £85.76 inc VAT, is a good value alternative.
