This presents a problem. The molexes are far too large to fit the sheathing over. So I had to get out the mini screwdriver kit and start pulling the metallic connectors out from the plastic housing. This meant potentially getting all my voltage supplies mixed up but there were two chains of power connectors and I was only working on the one; so I had the other one to use as reference. I probably ended up swapping some of the ground black cables over but I figure this shouldn't be a problem as they're both meant to be the same voltage (0V) and my PC is up and running now so it looks OK. It may be that in the case of a short circuit one of them is designed to take a higher load than the other but I think this is unlikely. So anyway, this was the resulting mess:

I had to use electrical tape to hold the metal connectors in line with the rest of the cable so that they would not snag on anything as I tried putting the braiding over. I pulled the sheath over the entire chain of connectors right up to the PSU with no problems (as you may just be able to make out in the second picture).

I then cut off a section of heatshrink tubing, threaded it over the end of the braiding and slid it right down to where the cables come out of the PSU and heated it. At the location of each of the sets of connectors, I cut round the braiding to expose the cables. I then slid a 1.5cm long bit of the heat-shrink so that it was partly on the cables and partly on the braiding then shrunk it carefully using a heat gun. I did the same either side of each of the connectors.
