I received a nice package from the Israeli company Active
Cool. Inside was their Activecool AC4G unit, a CPU cooler almost identical
to the perhaps better known ThermalTake SubZero 4G.
This is what Active Cool says about their product:
Active Cool has developed the AC4G, the world's first smart thermo-electric
cooling and noise-reduction system for PC processors. AC4G is an entirely new
approach to cooling PC processors, which is poised to replace the standard heat
sink and fan technology in PCs.

Well that all sounds good, but as we will soon see the product does not quite
live up to the expectations.
The concept is original but fairly simple. The package consists of a TEC (Thermo
Electric Cooler, also known as a Peltier device), a heat sink plus fan combo
(Called the ”Cooling Unit”, and a special device (Called the ”Power
and Control Unit”) that goes into a PCI slot. Along with that came some
thermal paste and a power cord for the Control Unit. Included was a lot of reading
material and a good instruction manual.
I have to hand it to Active Cool, the product does look good. Pretty well finished
too, as the pictures will reveal.
